Wedding Photography was not something I thought I would do and enjoy. The stamina required under the pressure of the moment put me off, until now.
When I was asked by the most loveliest and relaxed of Brides if I would be interested in capturing what she described as an intimate family wedding, curiosity got the better of me. I thought if ever there was an opportunity to experience photographing a wedding, this felt like it !
I spent an enormous amount of time researching wedding photography in the run up and visiting the venue with the Bride before the day to pre-visualise imagery I hoped to create with my couple.
This proved to be a fundamental part of the process that helped me work confidently and efficiently on the day. It meant my couple could focus on enjoying their moment with their family without having to worry about the taking of photographs.
I was all set and rearing to go and just a little nervous ! What I hadn't bargained for was how emotional I felt watching all the love and support unfolding in front of me. A slightly nervous Groom waiting for his gorgeous Bride, an emotional Dad walking her down the aisle, as a teary Mum and Nan watched on. Excited children, thrilled friends. It was all there - a photographers dream !
As planned we carved out a little time just after the group photographs to whisk my couple away for some portraits in the grounds, just the two of them. Taking a mixture of candid and posed photographs, mixing colour with black and white so my couple would have a comprehensive set of images to use for a variety of purposes. The gallery I delivered provided a bit of everything as a memento of their day.
As for me, its left a taste for more. I love the idea of photographing small intimate weddings capturing the spirit and joy of the day. It's definitely something I would like to repeat. If you would like to discuss how we can immortalise your day and create a little magic in photographs I would love to hear from you.
